Jay Saunders would like to bring Will De Havilland back to Maidstone next season.
Wycombe have recalled De Havilland from his loan spell for the League 2 run-in, with the Chairboys closing in on automatic promotion.
The centre-half made a big impression in two months at the Gallagher, playing a key role in tightening up their defence.
He played 10 times for the Stones, with his final appearance coming in the 1-0 win over AFC Fylde on Saturday.
His Wycombe contract expires this summer and Maidstone boss Saunders is interested in a permanent move.
Saunders said: “I’m a bit gutted to lose him because he’s been excellent for us and I’ve really enjoyed having him here.
“He’s someone moving forward if he doesn’t get a contract there I’d be really keen to get back at the club.
“I’m glad we had him for Saturday against Fylde where he went out on a high.
“At least he’s gone out with good memories because Saturday was a good day with the crowd and everything and hopefully it’s left good feelings in his head for us maybe to have a chat with him next season.
“He’s still young and still learning but he’s a good player and he goes back to Wycombe fit and ready to go.
“There’ll be other interest but I know he enjoyed his time here so hopefully that’ll stand us in good stead if we can have a chat with him.”
