Teenage boy accused of burning Union Flag near Borough Green Library appears in Sevenoaks Magistrates Court

A teenage boy accused of burning the Union Flag has denied the charge in court.

The 14-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with arson following an incident near Borough Green Library in October last year.

It is alleged he, along with two others, set fire to the flag which belonged to Borough Green Parish Council and cost £50.

Andrew Main, defending, said CCTV footage recorded an unnamed defendant climbing on top of another boy's shoulders and pulling the flag down.

Another defendant is then said to have set the flag on fire with a lighter.

He said that while his client was present, he was not involved.
