Police car involved in crash in Tunbridge Wells

A driver has been arrested after he reportedly smashed into a police car while trying to get away from officers.

The car collided with the stationary police car and another vehicle after officers stopped it in Tunbridge Wells to talk to the driver.

The driver was subsequently arrested.

A police spokesman said: "The arrested man was pulled over on suspicion of driving while disqualified.

"As an officer approached the vehicle, the driver is reported to have attempted to drive away but was involved in a collision with the stationary police car and the other vehicle."

The crash happened in North Farm Lane at 5.30pm yesterday (Tuesday) and involved a Ford Focus and a Skoda Octavia as a well as the response vehicle.

A 28-year-old man from Snodland was arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified and failing to stop. He remains in custody.

The spokesman added: "There was only minor damage to the police car and no serious injuries were sustained by anyone."
