Funeral of Asher Seager to be held at Vinters Park Crematorium

A Malling mum who inspired a huge community effort to help her marry her long-term partner earlier this year will be laid to rest at a funeral next week.

Asher Seager, 34, bravely tied the knot with Trevor, 35, in front of friends and family in March just months after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Tragically, Mrs Seager thought she had overcome the disease last year when surgeons removed her breast, but after experiencing pain in her shoulder over Christmas, she was suddenly told the tumour had spread to her liver, spine, bones and both lungs - and she only had months to live.

In response, the community rallied and helped raise more than £3,300 for the wedding, while the couple were also inundated with offers of help from DJs, make-up artists, photographers and even people offering to donate their own wedding dresses.

Mrs Seager passed away on May 31, and recently broke the tragic news to the couple's four-year-old daughter, Kyler-Louise.

He said: "I told her mummy has gone to the stars. It broke my heart to tell her and she did get upset, but to be honest she was more worried about me.

"She put her hands on my face and said 'I miss mummy too, daddy'.

"We all appreciate everyone coming together to help make Asher's final wish come true and are just massively grateful.

"She started to deteriorate immediately after the wedding so we certainly did it at the right time.

"Everyone is going to miss such a fun loving person who never had a bad bone in her body."

Mrs Seager's body will be walked by friends and family from their home in East Malling past the Larkfield Priory Hotel where she worked and celebrated her wedding on Monday afternoon.

Loved ones will then proceed to Vinters Park Crematorium in Maidstone for a service.

Mr Seager added: "It's a colour funeral and people who knew her and loved her are welcome to attend."
