Family of Aimee Williams from Aylesford pay tribute to 30-year-old after fatal crash in Sussex

A victim of a fatal crash will be remembered for her "infectious smile" and "positive lust for life", says her devastated family.

Aimee Williams was one of two people killed in a three-vehicle accident in Sussex on Monday.

A statement released by the family of the 30-year-old, who was from Aylesford, said: "Aimee was a beautiful, happy, kind daughter, granddaughter, niece, sister and more recently devoted auntie.

"She had countless friends and work colleagues and touched the lives of many with her infectious smile and positive lust for life.

"Her tragic death has left a gaping hole in all our lives."

The double tragedy happened on the A272 between Cowfold and West Grinstead, near Horsham, at about 11.30am.

An 83-year-old man from Worthing also died in the accident, which involved three vehicles – two Fiestas and a Scania lorry.

"To lose your daughter in these circumstances is every parents' worst nightmare and our grief is unimaginable and unbearable."

Two other women, aged 23 and both from Kent, were taken to hospital.

The crash, which is being investigated by the Surrey and Sussex Serious Collision Investigation Unit, resulted in the road being closed for a number of hours.

The family statement continued: "We are grateful to all the first responders who attended the scene and tried to save her life.
