A spokeswoman for SECAmbs said: “Crews arrived and assessed and treated one person before taking them to Tunbridge Wells Hospital for further medical care.”

Traffic was held while emergency services worked at the scene causing long delays on the M20 coastbound.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at 6.40pm on June 6 to a collision on the M20 coastbound carriageway, between junctions 3 and 4. It involved a car and a lorry.

“Officers and ambulance crews attended and the car driver required medical attention. The road was temporary closed.”

Drivers were told to expect around 45 minutes of delays and two miles of congestion.

The road reopened shortly after 9pm and traffic is flowing normally.

The injuries to the driver were not life threatening.

The incident is the latest frustration for motorists on the roads today.

Earlier, there was heavy congestion on the A249 at Stockbury after the flyover works there reduced a busy slip road to one lane.
