Naked carpenter Rob Jenner from Eccles appears at Maidstone Magistrates' Court

A naked carpenter who insisted on renovating his house in the buff has denied two public order offences.

Maidstone Magistrates' Court heard Rob Jenner, 42, was repeatedly arrested at his Eccles property after neighbours complained about his antics between August and October.

Paul Edwards, prosecuting, told the court the former soldier was also slapped with a community protection order but flaunted it by walking on the pavement between his van and the Stevens Road property while starkers.

He said: "Effectively what the charges relate to is that he was seen outside his property and was naked from the waist down with his genitals exposed, you' appreciate these are public order offences here and he's in breach of an order.

"The crown says obviously when he does this it's going to cause harassment, alarm or distress to the public. He does not accept his behaviour is causing harassment, alarm or distress. I think he;'s a naturist."

He added Jenner also denies being naked in the alleyway next to his home.

But Jenner denied two counts of using behaviour which caused harassment alarm or distress and a third charge of breaching a community protection order.

Simon Holmes, defending, said: "He is a naturist he believes he has a right to be naked."

He added he would be challenging the legality of the order based on the terms being unreasonable.

He will stand trial over two days in February and was released on unconditional bail.
