Teenage biker has bike confiscated by Kent Police after anti-social riding in Beaufighter Road, West Malling

A teenage biker had his vehicle seized by police after he ignored a warning against riding in an antisocial manner.

The 16-year-old had his bike confiscated after he rode a green and black Kawasaki off-road motorcycle in woodland behind Beaufighter Road in West Malling on Monday, August 18.

Police were called at 1.25pm and PCSO Wendy Stanley attended.

She confiscated the bike under section 59 of the Police Reform Act which states a vehicle can be seized if an offender receives two warnings for antisocial driving in less than 12 months.

The vehicle can then be crushed if the costs for its recovery and storage are not paid.

Sergeant Joanne Mott of Kent Police’s community safety unit said: “We are pleased to have removed one nuisance biker from the neighbourhood and hope this sends a message to anyone else who may be thinking about riding in an antisocial manner.

“We have received several reports of nuisance bikers riding in the area over the last few weeks and would like to reassure residents that measures to tackle them will continue to be enforced.

“We will not hesitate to clamp down on those who make the lives of law-abiding members of the public a misery.”

Any reports of antisocial behaviour are taken seriously. If you are affected, call Kent Police on 101
