The incident happened at the junction of the A20 London Road and Hawley Drive at around 4pm yesterday.

It is understood the girl had been a pillion passenger on a green motorbike but had stepped off and was on foot when she was involved in a collision with a black Vauxhall Vectra.

A black motor scooter and a blue motor scooter were also in the area at the time, police said.

A police spokesman said: "The injured girl was taken to a London hospital where her condition is described as critical."

Jon Hart, 55, who runs West Malling Cycles from his home, said: "It happened right outside my house. I don't know any details but there were lots of flashing lights.

"I was told the girl had taken her helmet off and had been about to cross the road. A local GP was at the scene and was helping.

"The girl was on the ground for about an hour and a half before she was moved to the air ambulance 200 yards away. Then it was another 45 minutes before it took off from a field opposite the Wheatsheaf pub at about 5pm."

He said the road remained closed until 10pm as police forensics officers carried out investigations at the scene.

Police say dashcam footage can be uploaded by clicking here.

Mr Hart, who took over the cycling business last year and also runs a cycling club, said: "I would normally have had footage of the crash from my Ring doorbell but two scumbags stole it the night before."
