Van driver caught going wrong way around roundabout which links Beacon Avenue with Discovery Drive in Kings Hill

A van driver has been criticised after a security camera caught them driving the wrong way around a roundabout - close to a school.

Adam Matthews caught the tradesman taking the shortcut on the roundabout which links Beacon Avenue to Discovery Drive in Kings Hill.

The location is very close to the Discovery School, a primary school which teaches pupils aged four to 11, and the act was caught at 9.16am on Monday- shortly after school opening hours.

The video, which contains CCTV footage that is an hour out of sync, was posted online and the driver's actions have been criticised on Twitter.

Jeff Thackeray, director for TCL south east, said: "We received a phone call from our Midlands office saying that a member of the public had called to advise us that he had witnessed a vehicle belonging to TCL cut across the road on the wrong side of a roundabout. He did not have a registration number for the vehicle.

"We were able to identify the vehicle concerned via our tracking system and the driver was then interviewed about the allegations.

"He admitted that he had been driving the vehicle and he had cut across on the wrong side of the roundabout. He is now subject of an ongoing internal disciplinary process.

"We expect our employees the drive in a safe and courteous manner at all times. This is not the standard we expect and therefore are taking this issue very seriously."
