Southern Counties East round-up: Match between Snodland Town and Tunbridge Wells abandoned after hosts receive six red cards

A Southern Counties East Premier Division match was abandoned following six red cards - all for the same team.

Snodland Town had four players and two members of their management team sent off against Tunbridge Wells.

The game was called off in the eighth minute of added time with the score 0-0.

Hosts Snodland wrote on social media platform X the game had been abandoned “for reasons still to be determined”, although there were suggestions the officials were concerned for their safety.

Faversham finished with eight men in their 2-2 draw at home to Rusthall.

Early goals from Billy Bennett and Sam Hasler put the Lilywhites in charge but Danny Powell replied and Jack Kirby levelled after home keeper Jacob Russell saved a penalty.

Ben Gorham was the first Town player to be sent off, dismissed for a high foot, and Matt Newman and Kieron Campbell followed, the latter for two bookings, but the fourth-placed hosts held on for a point.

A bumper crowd of 1,086 at the Charles Ground saw Deal beat title rivals Glebe 4-2 in a top-of-the-table clash.

Steve King’s second-placed Hoops moved three behind the visitors - and they still have seven games in hand.

As things stand, they need 19 points from 11 games to win the league and promotion to Isthmian South East.

Three goals in eight minutes, from Ashley Miller, Billy Munday and Aaron Millbank, put Deal 3-0 up at half-time.

Alex Green added the hosts’ fourth after Jamie Coyle replied, while Aaron Goode added a late second for Glebe.

A second-half own goal saw Whitstable win 1-0 at Erith Town to move a point behind the Dockers in the race for a place-off place.

Lydd Town are breathing down both sides’ necks in seventh place after a thumping 7-0 win at Welling Town.

Luke Burdon, Sammy Adams, Mitch Brundle, Harvey Welford, Kenny Pogue and debutant Jack Shonk’s late double earned a third straight win for a Lydders side chasing hard for the play-offs.

Bearsted drew 0-0 at home to VCD while Punjab United’s top-five hopes were hit in a 3-2 defeat by Lordswood.

Cruis Nyadzayo and Lea Dawson gave Punjab a 2-1 lead after Mo Dawodu opened the scoring for Lords.

But Matt Gething made it 2-2 and David Chandler scored a last-minute winner for Nicky Southall’s side.

Punjab are seven points off the play-off places but have two games in hand on fifth-placed Erith.

Early goals from Lewis Allan and Rob Denness sent Hollands & Blair on their way to a 4-0 win at Stansfeld.

Jabari Christmas and Kene Ukatu also struck as Blair completed back-to-back victories.

Charlie Owen’s second-half strike saw Kennington draw 1-1 at home to Fisher.

There was drama in Division 1, including an astonishing goal from SC Thamesmead keeper Justin Lee in a 3-3 draw at Larkfield & New Hythe.

Lee scored from 90 yards midway through the second half, squaring the match at 2-2.

Matt Day completed a hat-trick for the Larks, but they were pegged back three times.

Leaders AFC Whytleleafe were 3-1 up when their match at Bridon Ropes was abandoned late in the second half.

Two members of the Bridon coaching staff allegedly refused to leave the dugout after being sent off, leading to the abandonment.
