Police uncover 'cannabis farm' after street 'battle' in Montford Road, Strood

Cops found more than 60 cannabis plants after being called to a disturbance.

Officers were called to Montford Road, Strood, yesterday following reports a window had been smashed by a group of men.

They allegedly entered a house and then ran off in the direction of Brompton Lane.

When officers arrived, they discovered more than 60 cannabis plants.

A police spokeswoman said: "Kent Police were called to a disturbance in Montford Road, Strood, shortly after midnight on the morning of Friday, May 13.

"A group of men had reportedly smashed a window and entered a property in the street.

"The group were seen moments later by a number of witnesses running away in the direction of Brompton Lane.

"Officers attended the address and found more than 60 cannabis plants which have been seized.

"Enquiries remain ongoing to establish more around the circumstances of the incident."

Residents were met with a strange sight in the morning.

Police had cordoned off the area with tape and had piled up what looked like heat lamps and fans on the pavement.

One shocked neighbour posted on social media today (Saturday): "A good 12 lads or men entered the property with force at 12.30pm last night."
