Fire crews were called to a home after an airing cupboard caught alight.
The small fire, which is believed to be an accident, happened in Otterham Quay Lane, Rainham.
Two fire engines were sent to the scene at 8.30am.
The firefighters wore breathing apparatus and put out the flames within half an hour.
No casualties were reported.
