Ambulances called to Rochester Prison after incident

An incident has been declared at a prison with several ambulances at the scene amid reports a person has been injured.

Crews are attending Rochester Prison this afternoon due to what has been described as a "medical incident".

A spokesman for the ambulance service said paramedics have been sent to the prison off Fort Road but could not provide any further details.

A witness said six ambulances, a critical care team and the air ambulance have been called to the prison.

It is understood there were two separate incidents at the facility but that no members of staff were hurt.

A Prison Service spokesman, said: “Ambulances were required at HMP Rochester this afternoon to provide medical attention regarding two separate incidents. There were no serious injuries.”
