Armed officers hunted down a suspect after he led police on an early-morning chase.
Police say a car was reported to have failed to stop for officers while it was travelling on the Wainscott bypass, near Four Elms Hill, at around 3.40am on Sunday.
The vehicle was subsequently found abandoned in St John’s Road, Higham, and a search of the area took place, with assistance provided by two police dogs.
A team of armed officers responded to the incident, because they were the nearest to the scene.
A 21-year-old man from Minster, Sheerness, was subsequently arrested in High View, Higham, on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle and failing to stop when requested to do so by an officer.
He has since been released, pending further inquiries.
