Two arrested after gun spotted in Shipwrights Avenue, Chatham

Armed police were called to a residential street in Chatham after reports someone had a gun at a home in the road.

Firearms officers were deployed to Shipwrights Avenue at 8.40am.

A 17-year-old from Chatham and a 20-year-old from Gillingham were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

A spokesman for police said: “A search of the address recovered an imitation firearm, which upon further inspection was found to be black air gun.”

The pair were later released without charge.
