Armed police storm home in Slade Close Chatham

Armed police have descended on a house after reports a man was spotted with a gun.

Police cars are blocking off Slade Close in Chatham, with a helicopter and dogs also on the scene.

Annabel Pike, who lives nearby, heard the commotion and went out to investigate.

She saw police cars and armed officers outside a house before a helicopter flew overhead.

Ms Pike said: "I got home from work at half past four and there was one armed police car and then loads more started storming the road.

"They had dogs out in the woods searching and then a helicopter flew over."

Steve Knight spokesman for Kent Police said: "Armed officers attended Slade Close, Chatham, shortly after 4pm on Friday 19 July 2019 after a man was reported to have been seen in possession of a weapon.

"No weapon was found and inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the report are ongoing."
