A man who raided a Gillingham bank yesterday afternoon is believed to have been armed.

Medway police say a white man aged between 20 and 30 went into the Natwest branch in Watling Street at around 2.30pm.

He appeared to be carrying a firearm - as yet they are unsure whether this was an imitation. It was not fired, and no-one was injured.

The man, who had a local accent and whose face was covered, made threats to staff and an amount of cash was handed over.

He was drssed in dark clothing, including a dark woollen hat with a peak and a dark scarf covering his nose and mouth. He also wore white trainers.
