A BMW has been seized after a police chase through residential streets ended when the car came to an abrupt halt.

The silver vehicle was brought to a halt on the pavement in Maidstone Road, Rochester, at around 9am.

A tweet from police at 9.42am showed the seized silver BMW near the junction with Longley Road, opposite the Watts Almhouses.

The post read: "If you fail to stop for police you will be caught. #kentspecials lead vehicle pursuit #KentPolice 2 in custody."

It is understood that officers also closed off Ethelbert Road.

Police have been contacted for more information.
