Teen arrested in Gillingham after trying to hit person with metal pole

A teenager has been arrested after apparently trying to hit a man with a metal pole in the street.

Officers on patrol earlier today arrested the boy in Gillingham town centre.

The metal pole was seized by officers and the teenager is now in custody.

A tweet from Kent Police read: "While proactively patrolling in #Gillingham today, our #TownCentreTeam located a teenage boy who was wielding a metal pole and attempting to hit another male. He was arrested and awaits interview."

Kent Police were asked for more information.
