Virgin Media broadband service issues in Rochester area as network maintenance causes connection problems

Customers with Virgin Media broadband have been experiencing connection issues throughout the day.

A double-whammy for residents around the Rochester area saw many lose power earlier this morning as well.

But the problems suffered by several households with a Virgin account was linked to "planned maintenance", a spokesman confirmed to KentOnline.

In a statement, the company said: “As part of planned network upgrade works in the Rochester area, a small number of customers may briefly experience disruption to their broadband services.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The issues for Virgin customers was also compounded by UK Power Networks carrying out emergency repairs after issues with power cables this morning.

Residents in the Borstal area said they had lost power following showers and rainfall this morning.

The power network, which maintains electrical infrastructure, said it had restored power in Cuxton, Halling and St Mary's Island this afternoon following earlier problems.
