Burglars broke into the home of a 98-year-old disabled man and stole treasured antiques.

The break in happened in Darland Avenue, Gillingham, on Wednesday (August 7) between 11.30am and 2.30pm.

Police believe the burglars gained entry through a back door.

The man was attending a hospital appointment at the time.

Items stolen included three small but heavy brass animal figures, Regale Plates (made by N. Barnet & Co Ltd), knives and items of fine bone china.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have been offered items of a similar description in the last few days.

Detective Constable Sasha Monck said: "This break in has caused considerable distress to the victim who is also very vulnerable.

"The items stolen may not even be worth much money but they are of significant sentimental value."
