Chatham bus station partly blocked after a bus collided with a grass bank

This is the wreckage after a bus hit a grass bank at Chatham bus station this morning.

Police were called to Globe Lane at around 7.20am following the accident.

The bus blocked a lane of traffic which was closed and there was debris in the road. Officers were on scene to manage the traffic and the Highways Agency was informed.

The road was cleared and traffic was flowing normally by 9.30am.

A spokesperson from South East Coast Ambulance said that two people were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital, including a woman complaining of chest pains. Both had been on the bus at the time of the accident.

The spokesperson said: "At the time, both patients were not believed to have suffered serious injuries."
