Cat dies in house fire in St David's Road, Allhallows

Two cats were rescued by firefighters after a blaze broke out in a house, but one did not survive.

Crews were called to reports of smoking coming from the two-storey property in St David's Road, Allhallows at 2.55pm.

They rescued two cats and managed to resuscitate one of them using a specialist pet oxygen mask. Unfortunately the other cat did not survive.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus searched the property and tackled a fire on the ground floor using a hose reel jet and a ventilation fan.

The occupants were accounted for and the cause of the fire is not yet known.

Two fire engines attended and left the scene at 3.45pm.
