Charity thanks organiser for years of help as Winter Kimbofest get underway

Bands and fans alike have turned out in force to support Winter Kimbofest.

The biannual festival brings dozens of the artists to stages around Medway in aid of the Alzheimer's Society, and kicked off last weekend at Poco Loco in Chatham High Street.

Gigs continue next week at the Billabong Club in Victoria Street, Rochester, on Saturday February 12, with bands including UpCDownC, Smile Wide, Girls Like Us, and Skiv; and then at Poco Loco again on Sunday February 13 with a line-up including Cato St Conspiracy, Zombie Met Girl and Dog Rotten.

A final line-up of acts - including Mean n' My Lady, Andy White, The Spaces and Gemini - will grace the stage at The Alexander in Railway Street, Chatham.

As usual the event is orgainsed by Kimbo Norman Cranfield, who launched the festival 16 years ago in memory of his mother, who died from Alzheimers.

The Alzheimer's Society recently thanked Kimbo personally for his efforts, which have seen him raise £15,781.73 since 2013.

"We really cannot thank you enough or express how incredible that total is," wrote Megan Guy, community fundraiser. "You are a star and it's a pleasure to support you with Kimbofest.

"Thank you once again for uniting against dementia."
