A mother who went missing after dropping her son off at pre-school has been found safe and well, police say.

Jayne Howley was last seen at the nursery in Darland Avenue, Gillingham, at about 12.45pm yesterday.

The 44-year-old, of Jeyes Road, Gillingham, did not return to collect her young son later that day.

She was reported missing at 5.20pm.

Friends launched a Facebook appeal to help find her and police issued a description and picture in a bid to trace Jayne.

Kent Police announced just before 7.30pm today that she had been found.
