Firefighters used breathing apparatus to enter a home to fight a kitchen blaze.

Crews in two fire engines were called to Firethorn Close, Gillingham shortly before 8pm last night after the flames spread from a battery.

Crews spent about half-an-hour at the scene fighting the flames and said no one was injured.

It is understood crews were able to leave the scene by about 8.30pm.
