A man has been killed after being knocked off his mountain bike by a lorry today.
The 58-year-old cyclist was involved in a crash with the vehicle in Medway Road, Gillingham, at around 11.30am.
An air ambulance landed at the nearby Walnut Tree Club, but the local man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kent Police said the crash involved a silver DAF lorry and the man riding a mountain bicycle.
Officers were called at 11.25am and several roads were closed while emergency services were at the scene.
Four ambulances from South East Coast Ambulance Service were called as well as the air ambulance.
Crash investigators are now appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw either vehicle before the incident.
A Kent Police spokesman said: "The cyclist is believed to have been heading from Brompton, while the lorry was travelling from the B2004.
"Medway Road with the junction of Pier Road at the traffic light junction was closed, as was Richmond Road and Bridge Road. All roads were reopened at 3.40pm."
The dead man's family have been told.
