Firefighters rescued two dogs from a house fire yesterday afternoon.

Crews were called to Laburnum Road, Strood, at about 2.15pm, after a smoke alarm alerted neighbours to the blaze.

The fire was contained to a bedroom and did not cause substantial damage.

No one else was in the property and the dogs were not injured.

Crews left the scene an hour later.
