An angry family have erected a banner outside their new-build house urging people not to buy a home on the estate before talking to them.

The Correas moved into their four-bedroom home at the new development in Songbird Crescent, Hoo, last March expecting everything to be finished.

However, they claim when they got there walls were marked and damaged, there were leaks around the house, and the carpet on the floor was bumpy and ripped.

Bruno Correa says he contacted Abbey Homes immediately, emailing them pictures of the unfinished house and trying to contact their customer services with numerous calls.

After months of "being ignored", the 39-year-old put up a large banner on the front of his detached home, which read "don't buy a home here until you have spoken to me".

"We had someone from Abbey Homes turn up the next day," Mr Correa said.

"They turned up with my emails and pictures telling me they'll get it sorted as soon as possible. I just thought 'do they think I'm stupid?'

"I was asked to take the banner down, but I'm not going to until they sort out the house.

"I wouldn't recommend anyone else buying a place here"

"I've spent thousands of pounds of my own money trying to fix it myself. I wouldn't recommend anyone else buying a place here.

"My friends have recently moved into new builds in Greenhithe and I'm ashamed when they're round because of the difference."

The dad, who owns his own courier business, explained he's had "four to five" people turn up at this door each day after spotting the banner while driving along Four Elms Hill, Hoo.

"It's a really nice house, but we've had to pay out of our own pocket to make it nicer. We just want it to be finished and are sick of waiting," he added.

Abbey Homes was approached for comment, but did not respond.
