The 23-year-old was given a roadside saliva test which proved positive for cannabis and was later given further blood tests and was found to have 3.5 of THC in 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 2.

Chadha, of Well Cottage Close, London, was charged with drug-driving and admitted the offence when he appeared at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on April 25.

James Nichols, prosecuting, said: “Police pulled him over on the day in question and he was required to do a saliva swab which was positive.

“He was over the limit in blood. He’s of previous good character.”

Magistrates were also told Chadha hadn’t smoked cannabis on the day he drove, but the night before.

It was not stated in court where Chadha works as a door supervisor, but it was said he usually gets paid about £96 a shift.

The bench banned him from driving for 12 months and fined him £120 and ordered he pay a victim surcharge of £48 and £85 costs.
