A pensioner caused panic after reportedly being seen driving against traffic down a busy dual carriageway.

Police were called at 1pm to reports of an elderly person being seen riding a mobility scooter in the wrong direction towards Lower Rainham Road.

The errant vehicle was reportedly seen driving down the fast lane, from Beechings Way towards Lower Rainham Road on Yokosuka Way, Gillingham.

He was described by an eyewitness as a black, elderly gentleman.

Officers attended the area and conducted a search.

But no person matching the description of the report could be traced.
