Five suspects arrested in connection with alleged attempted murder of teen 'stabbed' in Gillingham High Street

Five suspects are being held in custody after being arrested in connection with the alleged stabbing of a teen.

The 17-year-old victim was injured in an incident in Gillingham on Thursday afternoon and taken to hospital with injuries consistent with stab wounds.

He remains in hospital in what police describe as "a serious but stable condition".

Police have this morning confirmed that yesterday they arrested four suspects – a 17-year-old and 19-year-old, both from Gillingham, and two 16-year-olds from Hertfordshire – on suspicion of attempted murder.

An 18-year-old Rochester woman was also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit assault.

All five remain in custody as enquiries continue.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Officers continue to seek witnesses to the incident and are urging anybody with information to call our appeal line.

"Motorists with dashcam and residents with private CCTV are also asked to check for footage that may assist."
