Flamingos in Christmas hats spotted on Medway's Japanese roundabout

Pink flamingos wearing Father Christmas hats have been added to a controversial Japanese roundabout.

Medway residents negotiating the roundabout on Watling Street, where it meets the A289 Ito Way and Will Adams Way, spotted the exotic birds which appeared overnight.

The three plastic flamingos are dotted over the Japanese-style garden at the centre of roundabout, which was completed in November at a cost of £135,000.

The garden was finished a year later than planned, paid for using cash from a number of sources, including development agreements, local companies and Medway's highways budget.

It is thought the avian additions are not part of the official design.
