Hull dad reunited with lost Superman wallet after losing it on night out in Medway

A delighted dad has been left “gobsmacked” after a good samaritan posted him his lost wallet after finding it more than 200 miles away.

Kelvin Walker lost the black and blue Superman money-keeper while on a night out around Medway with old friends in June.

The 41-year-old, who is originally from Gillingham but moved to Hull 12 years ago, was visiting his hometown while his family was down south for his daughter’s ballroom dancing competition.

He said: “It was a long shot but I posted about it on social media to ask if anyone had found it and I could arrange for my family to pick it up. I did not hear anything and so replaced everything and cut it all off.”

But today, while at church, Kelvin was told he had been sent post to his former address and was handed the bulky envelope by the new occupiers.

“I thought ‘I have not ordered anything’,” he added. “I was so surprised, I was gobsmacked. Everything was still inside it but there was no note.

“It was just a wallet, there was nothing to say who had sent it. We know what Medway can be like. Anyone could have helped themselves to it.

“I was just absolutely lost for words. I thought it was a lost cause, I had written it off but miracles do happen.”

The wallet, which his daughter Sarah, six, had chosen for him, contained bank cards, ID, £35 in cash but most importantly to Kelvin, irreplaceable pictures of Sarah when she was a newborn.

He added: “Those pictures were why I wanted it back. I replaced everything else, Sarah chose me a new wallet for Father’s Day, and could have written off the cash.

“I would have been happy if they had just sent the photos. I am so grateful to the person.”

The former Gillingham resident is now hoping to track down the good samaritan so he can thank them personally.
