Half-term activities across the Medway Towns to keep kids busy this week

Wondering what to do with the children during half-term this week? Here's some ideas to keep kids busy.

Libraries across the Towns are holding a series of themed storytelling and craft activities.

Children aged four to 10 will be able to make paper boat models and handle historic objects.

Venues include Chatham Library, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, between 10.30am and 11.30am, and Lordswood Library, Kestrel Road, Lordswood, between 2pm and 3pm, both on Monday.

On Tuesday, the sessions will be held at Rainham Library, Birling Avenue, from 10.30-11.30am and at Hoo Library, Church Street, Hoo, from 2-3pm.

Chatham’s Historic Dockyard opens again for the season tomorrow (Saturday).

Children can wear white coats and take part in experiments in Doc Yard’s secret lab including a Ice Cube Challenge and Antarctic Ice Creams. See www.thedockyard.co.uk.

Arty youngsters can make their own comic-themed T-shirt or tote bag at Sun Pier House, Medway Street, Chatham, on Saturday, February 20.

The screen printing workshop runs between 2pm to 4pm and costs £12 per child or £20 for two. Suitable for children aged eight to 15. For more information or to book call 01634 812805 or email info@sunpierhouse.co.uk.

Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre is staging more of its popular free children’s activities including Chinese New Year treasure hunts, balloon modelling and an entertainer who can teach youngsters how to walk on stilts and juggle.

Lordswood Leisure Centre in North Dane Way has a mammoth week of fun activities for children from trampolining and dodge ball to making dens and photo frames. Call 01634 682862.
