Police have confirmed a missing nine-year-old girl has been found safe and well.

A helicopter was launched as part of the search operation, which took place in Chatham.

Officers say they were called to the Churchill Avenue area at around 6pm.

Residents said the helicopter had been combing the Wayfield and Barnfield area and officers had been knocking on doors and asking if anyone has seen the girl.

A police spokesman confirmed she was safely located at around 8.35pm.
