Hundreds turn up for Medway Mile event and races in Rochester High Street last night

Hundreds of runners, joggers and walkers flocked to Rochester High Street to keep fit with others in the community.

People gathered last night for the annual Medway Mile, which provides people with a number of free activities to get them active.

As well as the mass family mile there was a competitive adult race, children's race and mascot race.

Donna Healey, who was at the event, said: "Everyone done great especially the children. What a great evening for the family. Even the rain kept spirits high."

Free sports activities, inflatables, live entertainment and fireworks also took place.

The event kicks off a weekend of sport in the Towns with a national cycling race tomorrow.
