Viewers give verdict on Channel 5 documentary about murder of Molly McLaren

It was the crime that shocked Kent - and TV viewers tonight gave their verdict on a show recalling the horrific murder of Molly McLaren.

The documentary, called Stalked: Murdered in Slow Motion, aired on Channel 5,

The episode was part of a series telling the stories of several young women who were killed by their ex-partners who stalked them.

Molly was killed by her ex-boyfriend at Chatham Dockside on June 29, 2017. In February last year he was sentenced to a minimum of 26 years in prison.

Although the horrific crime created shockwaves across Kent and Medway, some viewers from elsewhere in the country had been unaware of it until tonight's show.

Co-founder of The Molly McLaren Foundation and the 23-year-old's best friend, Amy Lee, took part in the documentary on behalf of the McLaren family.

She said: "We decided to take part in the documentary in the hope that we could raise better awareness of cyber stalking and to highlight the dangers associated with it.

"With the rapid growth of technology there are some serious legislation changes that are needed to keep people safe and we hope that by highlighting those very dangers, that we can encourage more people to support them."

After her death, Amy set up the foundation with Molly's parents, Jo and Doug, her brother Tom and family friend Theo.
