Hailstorms and rainbows as Kent hit by burst of topsy-turvy weather

A mad few minutes of weather saw Kent lashed by hail amidst plummeting temperatures before being treated to a display of sunshine and rainbows.

A blast of icy April showers in Medway and Sittingbourne had people taking to social media to report the hail, but no sooner had they got their phones out than the sun came out.

Lisa Daniels in Walderslade posted a picture of a glorious rainbow and tweeted: "The temperature's dropped about a hundred degrees and we've just had hailstones but now I have this."

Another confused weather-watcher added: "I was in Strood and hail stones suddenly fell and then the next second it was raining and then it was sunny all within a few seconds."

In Westerham the weather changed many times during the day, from fog to hail to sunshine.

Chartwell, the former home of Winston Churchill tweeted this picture earlier.

Rangers in Milton Creek also got wet earlier during a hail storm.

And this rainbow was captured in Rainham by a mother-of-one earlier today.
