Kittens dumped in Tesco cardboard box at Ranscombe Farm Nature Reserve Cuxton

Six tiny kittens were found abandoned in a cardboard box in a car park with a note which read 'Pls find us a good home'.

A couple walking their dog at Ranscombe Farm Nature Reserve in Cuxton found the moggies in the Tesco box dumped in the car park.

Jane Pook, from the local RSPCA centre, said: “They were just about to set off on a walk when they saw the box and thought it looked a bit weird and out of place.

“When they got closer to the box with Tesco text printed on the side they spotted a message scrawled on the cardboard in pen: ‘Pls find us a good home’.

“And inside they found six tiny kittens who must have been very frightened and very disorientated.”

The kittens were taken to the RSPCA Leybourne Animal Centre in West Malling where they were checked over by a vet.

They were covered in fleas but were otherwise in good health.

The six-week-old tabby and white kittens have been named Arnold, Brittney, Charlie, Justin, Orlando and Sylvester, after film and music stars and are now being cared for in a foster home.

“They’re only young so we’ve got them into special foster homes which should help their development,” Jane added.

“Then, if they’re not claimed, we can start looking for new homes for all of them which I’m sure won’t be difficult.

“However, this is a classic example of what the RSPCA sees every spring and summer. We are inundated with unwanted kittens at this time of year, either abandoned or turfed out onto the street by owners who didn’t want their cats to have babies but failed to get them neutered.

“That’s why we urge all pet owners to have their dogs, cats, rabbits neutered to avoid any unwanted litters and to ease the strain on charities who take on these animals who would never be able to survive on their own at such a young age.”
