Footage shows shocking fight in Chatham High Street

A man appearing to be wielding a weapon has been beaten to the ground in a shocking street brawl.

Three men have been arrested after footage posted online showed the man facing off against as many as six other people in Chatham High Street.

Seemingly carrying a large knife, a man wearing a black hoodie can be seen taking several swipes at his opponents.

For their part, the group can be seen using a chair and a nearby sign in the fight, which took place at 3pm today.

After avoiding a swipe, one of the group can be seen to land several punches, before the armed man tries to run, only to be tackled to the ground, losing his coat in the process.

He is then hit twice in the head with a chair, before the group surrounds him and begins kicking him.

It is not known how the fight was instigated, or the status of any of the people involved.

Police arrested two men in the aftermath of the fight and have sine confirmed a third man has been arrested.

A statement added: "Kent Police was called to the incident at around 3pm on Thursday May 26 which saw a group on men involved in a fight.

"Upon arrival officers seized a bladed weapon and also arrested two men, aged 19 and 20 who are from Chatham.

"On Friday May 27 officers arrested a third man, aged 20, also from Chatham. All three men were arrested on suspicion of affray.

"Officers believe one man sustained facial injuries in the incident and are continuing to carry out enquiries to identify those involved."
