Motorists faced delays on the M2 this afternoon after a vehicle overturned on the coast-bound carriageway between Junction 1 (Grain) and Junction 2 (Rochester) at 3.45pm.

The driver of the car, a woman whose age is not known, is not thought to be seriously hurt.

Police, ambulance and fire-fighters were on the scene.

The car landed on its roof on the hard shoulder.

The road stayed open while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: “The woman was out of the car when we arrived. We believe it was only one vehicle involved
