Crash on M2 between Sittingbourne and Gillingham causing delays for drivers

Motorists faced delays on the motorway after a four-car crash.

It happened on the London-bound carriageway of the M2 between Junction 5 for the Stockbury Roundabout at Sittingbourne and Junction 4 for Gillingham.

Congestion was currently all the way back to the A249 near Bobbing.

All lanes have reopened following the collision and delays have been cleared.

A police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 1.47pm to a report of a collision involving four vehicles between junction five and four on the M2.

“Officers are in attendance along with other emergency services and minor injuries have been reported.”

Yesterday, the same junction was causing heavy traffic after weekend roadworks overrun.

The M2 London-bound entry slip road was shut at Junction 5 for the A249 Stockbury roundabout in Sittingbourne on Monday morning despite works being scheduled to finish on Sunday.

Vehicles were seen queuing back to junction 4 for Gillingham. The junction reopened at 1pm.

Police have been asked for more information.
