Man suffers serious head injury after being hit by a car in Hoath Way, Gillingham

A man has suffered a serious head injury after he was hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing.

The collision happened on the southbound carriageway of Hoath Way, Gillingham, shortly after 3.20pm on Friday.

The 41-year-old casualty was airlifted to King's hospital in London, where he remains in a serious condition.

He was hit by a blue Toyota Yaris at the crossing near Bowaters Roundabout.

An ambulance and two paramedic cars were sent to the crash, which caused major delays on the A2 during the Friday rush hour.

Police closed the southbound road between Bowaters Roundabout and the roundabout which joins with Ambley Road.

It eventually reopened at 7.55pm.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage of the collision, to come forward.
