Gerry Marsden drops out of Pacemakers tour following health problems

Gerry and the Pacemakers singer Gerry Marsden has been forced out of an appearance at Chatham’s Central Theatre tomorrow (Saturday) due to health problems.

A statement released by promoters of the Sixties Gold Tour said: “Owing to a serious medical condition, Gerry Marsden has been forced to withdraw from the Sixties Gold tour. The Pacemakers will still be appearing.”

The 71-year-old singer had to withdraw from the British Invasion Tour of America last month, due to a serious illness, but was said to be on the mend.

The Merseybeat star will be replaced on the tour by singer Spencer Davis.

Other acts appearing include The Searchers, PJ Proby, The Fortunes and Brian Poole and Chip Hawkes.
