Arrests after men attempt to get into property in Queen's Road, Gillingham

Two men were arrested after police were called to a burglary in progress.

Officers went to Queen’s Road, Gillingham, at 11.36pm on Monday after a report a number of men wearing balaclavas and carrying metal poles had attempted to gain entry to a property.

A vehicle thought to have been used in the incident was later located in the Star Hill area with two men seen to be running away.

A patrol found one in John Street and the other in Gravel Walk.

A search of the vehicle discovered a large amount of cannabis, mobile phones and balaclavas.

An Essex man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, possession of cannabis and going equipped for theft.

A man in his 20s from London was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, possession with intent to supply class B drugs and going equipped for theft.

They have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
