Motorcyclist dies after crash near Bowaters Roundabout in Gillingham

A motorcyclist has died after crashing into a set of traffic lights.

Emergency services were called to the A2 London Road near to the Bowaters Roundabout, Gillingham, at around 7.25pm.

A man in his 30s from Medway was riding a black CBF125 bike towards Rainham when he collided with the lights at a pedestrian crossing.

The fire service confirmed they were also called to nearby Courteney Road following the incident. One fire engine attended and the road was closed at the junction with London Road.

Kent's air ambulance was also called to the scene last night and confirmed the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are now appealing for any witnesses or people with dashcam footage of the incident.

Police spokesman Sally Smith said: "Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or those with any dashcam footage that may assist officers with their inquiries."
