Wainscott Eastern Bypass closed after accident involving a lorry and motorcycle

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital following a crash with a lorry.

The incident happened just before 11am this morning at Wainscott Eastern Bypass, near Strood.

The road has been closed in both directions since 11am which has caused queueing traffic.

Police spokesman Lucy Hurdle said: "Police were called at 10.17am to reports of a collision between a lorry and a motorbike on the A289, Wainscott Bypass, Rochester.

"The motorcyclist is reported to have suffered an injury and is being treated by South East Coast Ambulance Service."

Ambulance crews attended the scene and treated the motorcyclist, who was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with leg injuries.

Traffic conditions have returned to normal.
