A mountain rubbish has been fly-tipped outside two businesses on Medway City Estate in Strood, is now gone.

As these pictures show, tons and tons of waste has been dumped outside two units on the estate over the weekend.

Shocked employees turned up for work on Monday morning and found the huge pile had been dumped right outside their work place.

The rubbish has been left outside various units in Enterprise Close and is affecting businesses including Mid-Kent Tools and Fixing in Keel Court.

Steve Hills, manager at Mid-Kent Tools and Fixing said: “We all turned up and found a lorry load of rubbish had been dumped outside out businesses.

“We couldn't get in, but the business next door is at a standstill.

“We think it happened early on Saturday morning and is dangerous and will cost our businesses money.

“I have called Medway Council to report it but I was told because it is on private land, then they will not do anything about it.

"I also called the Environment Agency, but they said the same thing.

I had to pay to hire a grab lorry to come and remove it in the afternoon.

Medway Council has a zero tolerance approach to fly-tipping and anyone found to be dumping waste in Medway will be prosecuted.

In 2015/16, Medway Council attended 2,442 reports of fly-tipping and removed 223.16 tonnes of fly-tipped waste.

A total of 69 people were prosecuted at magistrates in relation to fly-tipping, littering and waste related cases.

Punishments included a prison sentence, suspended prison sentence, caution and community service, and the total amount of fines and costs offenders were ordered to pay totalled £37,820.
